Lately

I admit it.  I have become a horrible blogger.  But, when I'm not working, I am running after a little 2-year-old.  When I'm not running after a 2-year-old, I am trying to sneak in some quality time with my hubby.  I also am responsible for cooking some meals, cleaning the upstairs, and I enjoy getting 9 hours of sleep.  There is simply not enough time in the day... which has lead me to thinking about goals lately.

I want to declutter.  I also want to get back to running regularly.  Those are my two goals for this month.  It sounds so easy to say that I will run at least three times a week.  But when do I do it?  Already I feel tired.  If I do it in the middle of the day, that is time away from work that I need to make up somewhere.  If I do it early in the morning, that is time away from my precious sleep.  I'm hoping that my grumpiness from lack of sleep will be countered by the goodness and extra energy you feel from regularly working out.  We'll see...

As for little S, she has been enjoying lots of grandparent time.  Dee Dee and Pop Pops came for a visit and she got her very first (professional) manicure, new clothes, and a trip to the zoo with someone else besides boring momma.

My parents (Jo Jo and Grandpa Cheii) have also been in and out.  I love spending time with family.  I just wish they lived a little bit closer!

Loves you

I'm sure I've told S a million times that I love her.  It first started when she was a newborn, when I was mesmerized by her little fingers and toes and couldn't believe that Mikes and I made this perfect little person.   As she got older, she would repeat after us before bed time. "Loves you, momma." "Loves you daddy."  A few weeks ago, I came home and she said it unprompted for the first time.  It's hard to describe what it felt like to have my not-so-little baby express her love for us on her own. I feel so lucky to be this little girls momma!

A comes to Salt Lake

This past weekend we had the pleasure of hosting A's first trip to SLC. This cutie was conceived around the same time that S was born.

I first met A's mom the week before college started on freshman trips. Lisa and I hit it off right away and have been best friends ever since. (Oh man, we had a ton of fun in college and she is one of the main reasons why Mikes and I are together today - a story she says would make a great movie)  So it's no surprise that A and S also get along really well.

I wish that we lived closer, but at least the one hour plane ride makes weekend trips possible!  Of course now that S is no longer free, I'll have to really keep my eye out for flight specials.

S Turns TWO!

Holy moly.  My little girl turned TWO two weeks ago.

Where did the past two years go? I remember when we could hold her in one hand and I could leave her on the bed while I took a shower without having to worry about her disappearing and getting into trouble.
Now, she is so grown up. She is very opinionated and lets us know exactly what she wants. She's got a lot of words and phrases but isn't full on talking in sentences yet.  But she is crazy active and adventurous like her dad.  We don't have a very big back yard, but I would love to get her a little bike to cruise around on.

This year, we had a family birthday party with my immediate family. My sister was in town from Maryland with her kids and my oldest brother was around with his family from Canada.  We had a fun pool party up in Park City at the Marriott mountainside where everyone was staying.  S sure loves all her cousins!

Fatherhood

It's no secret that I wouldn't love to add another munchkin to our family.  I know fatherhood has been a big change for Mikes, but so far, I think he's done a great job. There's nothing like a little girl and her daddy. And no question about it, S is just like her daddy.

She is adventurous

Loves to be outside

And loves to be active

I'm so glad that S has such a great dad to take after and really awesome grandpas in her life.  I never knew my grandpas and have always been envious of people who had grandparents growing up.  Lucky S has both sets and is soo loved.  Couldn't ask for more!

Lately

I know I'm always saying it, but time is just flying by.  It's been a super busy time for me at work.  My firm merged with a larger firm to become the new firm's family law section.  Aside from the physical move, I've had to undergo training on the way the new firm functions and the programs they use.  I loved our old firm, but I am optimistic that the new place will be just as great.

We also headed east for a mini-vacation.  First, I caught up with my Dartmouth roomies, Katie and Lisa.  Love those girls and their little kids.   Then we spent a couple of days at Mike's parents before S and I headed home.  Mike stayed back east for the remainder of the week to climb with a buddy.

Even though we were only in Vermont for a few days, it was soooo relaxing.  Lisa's place is incredibly kid friendly.  The kids would walk out the front door and no one cared because there were no drop offs or cars in sight.  The kids also entertained each other really well.  S didn't have a single temper tantrum the whole weekend.  She was just too excited to meet her future college roommate.

My little baby turns 2 this month.  Can you believe it?  For the most part, I think Mikes and I have done really well these past 2 years.  I love being a mom.  It can be overwhelming sometimes, especially working full-time, but I'm glad that we jumped into parenthood when we did.  That said, I also feel like I need to reorganize my life a little.   Since going back to work full-time, it's been incredibly hard to exercise.  So, one of my main goals right now is to regularly work out.  We'll see!  New work out clothes always help out...

One Hour

You wouldn't think that one hour would make a big difference.  But let me tell you.  It does.

S has historically been a great sleeper.  She started sleeping through the night early on and has gone to bed right at 8pm with little fuss for well over a year.  She used to sleep 12 hours and take a mid-day nap.   However, slowly but surely, the 12 hours became 11 hours.  For the past 3 weeks, she has woken up consistently between 7 and 7:30am, even on the weekends.  (The worst was when I went to Denver to visit a friend and she kept waking up at 6/6:30am!)

Losing this extra hour has been hard on me because I am a solid 9 hour sleeper and not much of a morning person.  Also, waking up so early can be kinda depressing.  I have more time on my hands, and as a result, I feel even more disappointment when I don't seem to accomplish anything in a given day.

So, this past weekend, I tried to think of fun activities for me and S to do.  We did some "colors."  We walked down to the library.  We had a picnic outside.  Pulled out the mini pool and splashed around.  Climbed in the climbing gym.  Had a little dance party at one point.  Went shopping.  And of course, it wouldn't be a real weekend without a trip to the zoo, crazy memorial day crowds and all.  S could ride a carousel all day if I let her.

I hope your memorial day weekend was filled with lots of fun too!
