Mikes and I are currently in the hunt for a house. We are looking for something that needs a little TLC, but nothing too crazy. One of the first houses we went through was what I like to refer to as the "Grandma House."

The Grandma House looks like a typical avenues house: brick and built in 1908. Unfortunately, not much has been maintained inside this house since 1908. In fact, it still has push-button electricity! Sweet. Check out this diamond in the ruff:
Kitchen

Upstairs Mini-Bedroom

1st Floor Bedroom

Scary Basement

It even had a cute old carriage house/garage in the back (which our good contractor friend said was about to fall down any day and if you were lucky someone would back into it and cause it to crumble so you could rebuild).

Although I thought it would be fun to fix up this beauty, after renting
The Money Pit, we finally decided it would just be too much time, money, and effort. But I really hope someone does buy the Grandma House and restore it to an updated version of it's original glory (provided you get it for at least $50k less than what they're asking...).

Oh I LOVE that house- you are right. A diamond in the rough. Lots of work but SO CUTE if you had the money.
