OK! I finally have a new battery for my camera, so house updates can continue! Last weekend was a little slow on the house front b/c I took all Sunday to try to make it across the little cottonwood traverse With my friend Charlie. We only made it halfway, due to loose rock and scary scrambling. But if was a nice break!

But we have done a ton of work in the last month. The front of our house looks like a normal house now. We put up the solid alder door and new lights!

Kinda ok!

I finally cased in the front door

Now I am on to the base and casing for the rest of the house. I've figured out a couple of secrets. Thanks to the advice of my dad I decided to paint the baseboards first. Thank god! What a time saver. The other, thanks to our friend todd, was to use a pneumatic finish nailer. Another huge time saver. The other thing I realized, was that you shouldn't try to follow the crooked walls perfectly, rather you should keep the baseboard straight and fill in the little 2 or 3mm wobbles with caulk. Then it actually gives the illusion of your walls being straight!
