1. Being a mom is like working out regularly - I only managed to get in a 6 mile run before the big day, but found that I was felt really good throughout the race. Chasing after a toddler and pushing a jogging stroller are like doing an extra few miles.
2. If you wait until you're "ready," you'll never do it - I am never sure whether I'll be able to run the entire time, but to date, I always have. However, if I had doubted myself and waited until I completed an entire 13 mile training run, I probably would never sign up for a race!
3. Come up with your own inspirational saying - Every time I get to mile 12, I'm pretty tired. So I repeat over and over to myself a few sayings: "You can do it Cinderellie," "Slow and steady wins the race" (I'm of the Tortoise school of thought), etc.
4. Wear cute workout clothes - I got a lot of compliments during the Provo half on my outfit (lululemon, of course). It really helped give an extra spring to my step.
Hooray to Meredith (old family friend) for stepping in as my last minute running partner! I think I look awful in this photo, but Mer looks great!
Mike watched crazy pants while I was running and met me at the end! Wish I could say I was met with this smiley face, but she actually broke into tears when she saw me...

I really need to run one. & You are right about cute workout clothes. I wear an old BYU shirt & Scott's basketball shorts and I pretty much feel frumpy :)
so impressed. :) thanks for the encouragement! and hey, maybe she was SO GLAD to see you, that's why she cried! ;)
Congratulations on getting published AND finishing the half marathon. The fence looks fabu, and it's just adorable to see Soryn and Astro playing around together!
