Tourists

While staying at my parents' house in Maryland, we played tourist and took S out around the D.C. area.

First, we checked out the Air & Space Museum, near Dulles airport.  Not super easy to get to since you can't take the metro, but worth the trip.  Mikes was super excited to see the NASA space shuttle.

Then, the following day, we took S to the National Zoo.  She's really been into animals lately and gets excited when she sees dogs out on walks or pictures of animals in books.

Here she is petting the prairie dog sculpture.  It was hard for her to see the little animals, so we moved on to the elephants, tigers, and bears.

This was her face expression once she caught sight of a real animal.  Her eyes would get really big and she'd start "ooooing"

She also is letting Mikes hold her more often without immediately reaching for mommos.  This is a HUGE improvement.  I was starting to go crazy with the intense mommy attachment.  Since being at my parents' house  and our recent return to Utah, S has been much more independent.

We attribute part of it to her drastic increase in mobility.  S is now a full fledged walker.  She still falls every once in awhile, but she walks all over the house.  She doesn't crawl anymore (unless it's up stairs).  More intensive baby proofing is currently underway at the Tanana abode.
