It is no great mystery that Astro LOVES to eat. In fact, many minpins you see on the street will be a little chubby due to this hereditary trait. Although I would love Astro to eat to his little heart's content, I'm afraid he would become a blimp. So we keep Astro on a strict diet, only giving him 1/3c of doggie food twice a day with the knowledge that he will eat an additional 1c human food through theft or charm.
It is Astro's great love of food that leads to tension between Mikes and myself. Indeed, every morning is a battle of wills to see who can pretend to be asleep longer whilst being jumped on by Astro, pawed and licked, reminding us that it is 8:30am and therefore time to be feed. On days when one of us actually has to be up early, this is not a problem. But more commonly, Mikes has stayed up till 3am working and I just love my 10 hours of sleep.
If you manage to pin down the Astro, you may buy yourself another 10-15 min of sleep. However, sure enough, he manages to wiggle out and begins his howling and nudging. Finally, one of us gives in and feeds him.
Immediately after, Astro hops back into bed and snuggles down for another 2 hours of sleep. Sometimes, I wonder if it might just be easier to wake up the first time he nudges me and get the feeding ritual over quickly so that I could go back to bed.

Oh gosh, this is like our babies. Seeing who can ignore the babies jumping up and down on us telling us: "The sun is up it's time to wake up! Come on!"
Ugh... I usually give up first
Boy, does he have you two trained.
