That's right... a much beloved member of our household has died: the JEDI.
This morning, Mikes and I dropped him off at the mechanic to see about getting him a new eye (aka headlight). I received the fateful call this afternoon while at work. In a very serious voice, the mechanic asked me if I was sitting down (or maybe it was whether this was a good time to talk) and told me I better get something to write on.
He proceeded to list 10 different things that needed replacing, including the left front wheel bearing. A major safety issue, he said the wheel could fall off at any moment. (Holy moly - I just drove the Jedi down to P-town a few days ago! Ahh! I could've been one of the daily death crashes on I-15).
At first, he sounded optimistic. The Jedi was young, it could recover and last a long time. Young?? I stopped him. No, no, those miles on the dashboard aren't the actual mileage. The real mileage was twice that.
Oh. The mechanic said. That changed things.
So long Jedi. You'll be missed. (And thank you for not killing me when I took you on the highway)

Oh no! Well, I guess you really do need a new car!
Holy crap, Heather! You totally could have died! That's crazy! I'm SO glad you are alive and retiring such a death trap. PS I think the Outback Sport is super cute.
RIP little car.... how fun though to pick out a new one!!! :)
