Hearbeat

Yesterday I had a prenatal check up and got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time. It was a really neat experience and comforting to hear the little woosh-woosh-woosh. The heartbeat was 140, which according to old wive's tales, is right in between where you guess whether it's a boy or girl (a boy being below 140 and a girl above 140).

Our little baby is no longer a gummy bear, its the size of a grapefruit! I am just so amazed at the biology of it all. To be honest, I don't have strong personal feelings about limiting an individual's right to abortions. But when I think that this little guy in my tummy is already sucking its thumb and swimming around, I can't imagine not thinking of it as a little person with some form of awareness.

I've been really lucky to have an easy pregnancy so far, lets keep our fingers crossed it stays that way!

I can't believe your baby is already 4 months along! I'm glad you got to hear the heartbeat. It does make it more tangible to hear a real live person in there. Woohoo!

PS I'm SO jealous, but glad for you, that you have had an easy pregnancy!

Just happened upon your blog. Congrats on the new baby. They really are little miracles, aren't they? I have three little blessings myself.
