Peoples and Animals

For my law seminar, I took "Genetics and the Law" - fun course where we talked about scientific advancements and how that affects the law. We saw a nice little video about this guy:

You can read more about it here. I'm sure you're familiar with all the outcry over lab animal testing and animal rights.

Well more recently, in my environmental health class (part of MPH), we learned all about this guy:

Gross. I hate frogs and all things slimy. I would totally freak out if I ever came across this guy, which apparently is pretty common in states like Michigan and Wisconsin. Nasty. But it does show the other side of humans and their impact on animals. Unlike the ear on the rat, human testing didn't give this frog an extra leg, but our life style behaviors and resulting pollution did.

Although I love my rastros, I'm not a big animal rights activist. I don't buy cage free eggs and love to eat the fish, cow, chicken and pig. BUT, listening to the lecture, I started to feel bad for our animal friends. Not to mention, if frogs and other animals are developing such abnormalities, I can only imagine the changes going on in our bodies that we aren't even aware of...

Freaky sauce ear mouse- FOR REAL. Bleh. Thanks for the nightmares!

I am also not a fan of frogs. Bleh.

And I also love animals but still eat my genetically engineered meats and such. I'd like to not... but I do anyway.
