Country number 1: THAILAND
Who doesn't love Thai food? No one I know! So, Mikes and I were super excited to go to the homeland of awesome food. Yes, it's true that I order Pad Thai every time we go to a Thai restaurant, but I love it and was looking forward to testing out other dishes as well.
Thailand was no disappointment. The food was awesome and I had a coconut shake everyday. We stayed at Ton Sai Bay. The second day we got there, we woke up at 5am, unable to sleep a second longer since we had fallen asleep around 7pm. We got up and decided to explore a little. Since the tide was low, we were able to walk on the rocks over to Railay beach. Eventually we got hungry and decided to have breakfast at this little joint on the beach. Unfortunately, we weren't paying attention to how much money we had grabbed from our room, so when it came time to pay the bill, we didn't have enough! Mikes is speedier than
myself, so he decided to run back to our hotel room to get more money while I waited at the restaurant.
The tide had started to come in, so Mike swam over to Ton Sai bay. What a trooper. He made it to the room to get more dinero and decided to take the trail back to Railay. Eventually he showed up an hour later. I took the trail back with him and I can't believe he made it as fast as he did. The trail is crazy! First you pass monkey cave (imagine lots of monkeys hopping around in this photo). Then you have to climb up this ridiculously steep hill. Man, I was really sweating. You start angling downward thinking the hard part is over until you come to an even steeper hill, someone cut steps into the dirt path making it possible to climb without rolling backward. Whew! Good thing that breakfast was worth it!
Aside from our little adventure, Thailand was super relaxing. We stayed at the beach, swam, climbed a little, ate a lot, relaxed, good stuff. Overall, it was the perfect vacation. I highly recommend going to Thailand! The people are super friendly even though we couldn't speak a word of Thai aside from Sawadee ka (when saying hi to a woman) and Sawadee krap (when saying hi to a guy). That's right, Sawadee krap.
