Strange Love - Review

Episode 1 of TrueBlood is entitled "Strange Love." For those who have not yet seen it, you can actually rent the first episode from Blockbuster or try to find it on the internet.

For background on the (Southern Vampire) series, you can check out Charlaine Harris' website . However, much like Stephenie Meyer's website, I find Charlaine's to be poorly designed and hard to navigate. So, you may just want to hit up Amazon to see reviews or wikipedia.

Anyway, overall I enjoyed the first episode of True Blood. I like the main character Sookie, as played by Anna Paquin. I last remember her in X-Men, but I think she pulls off a Southern cutie very well in this show.

Sookie's best friend, Tara, was played by Brook Kerr (who I really like and I think did a great job) in the pilot, but she's replaced by Rutina Wesley in the aired series. Why do I love Brook Keer? Because she played Whitney in Passions of course! I loved that soap opera...Who in the world is Rutina Wesley?? Apparently, she starred in "How She Move" (says the google machine), although I have yet to see or hear of this 2007 film. Sorry Whitney, I was rooting for you!

The first episode was FULL of sex and very explicit sex scenes. Hopefully that part of the show will mellow out some b/c I was never that interested in watching naked ladies jiggle up and down. Aside from that, I think the show has a lot of promise. Nice introduction to a bunch of characters, actors I generally like, interesting plot, and good development scenes between Sookie and Vampire Bill.

It's also made me want to check out the books.

I had to turn it off in the first 5 minutes or so. It was TOO MUCH for me. And I am disappointed because it looked like it might be good.
