I received this super cute baby bjorn carrier at one of the showers:

Love the hot pink! But then Mike said that he would never carry the baby around in it. Instead, he wants this ergo baby carrier in brown or dark green (which I don't think they sell anymore):

But I think that carrier is pretty ugly, especially the logo. Until I saw that Petunia Picklebottom recently paired up with Ergo to create this:

Now that is super cute! but once again, Mike won't wear a girly print.
So I'm trying to figure out: 1) how many carriers are too many (especially since these things are not cheap) and 2) will Mike really be carrying around the baby enough to make his opinion outweigh style?

No question - you need the Ergo! That's the one baby thing we recommend to everyone. It's way more comfortable and better for your back (and better for the baby's back). You can do front & back (and side, but we never did that) carry, it's really easy to adjust for different adults. Emily is 2 and still rides in hers comfortably for her & us. I'd say if you already have a pink one you like, get a neutral Ergo. You definitely want Mike to be comfortable carrying the baby - you've carried her long enough! :) I don't have strong opinions about much, baby wise... but I love the Ergo. :) Haha, I'm sure you'll figure out what works best for you guys though.
Ha, that's funny! I liked having different kinds of baby carriers. I had a ring sling, regular sling, mei tai... baby wearing is really nice sometimes and then you don't have to lug the heavy car seat around. And I'd definitely want one that Mike will use - I plan on making Rob carry the next baby around more. And if you guys are going on outdoor adventures that'd be a great time for Mike to carry her. How fun!
Scott didn't carry Syd & Rob much in carriers but I think he might have if he had a more manly looking one. If Mike has expressed interested in carrying the baby and wanting one he's cool with, then get the dude one. But if you have extra cash and can't live without the pretty one get both! :)
I never knew there were different baby carriers...

James carried the baby lots, so I think it's a great idea to have something that Mike's going to be good with. My old roommate Chelsi had the frame one that her husband wore for hiking and stuff. I've heard great things from her on that one! Good luck!
