Baby Room: part I

Once Mikes moved his office downstairs, we were able to begin work on the baby's room. Hooray! Exhausted from doing office renovations, Mikes wanted to leave the upstairs room as-in and simply set up the crib. But I knew that if we did that, we would NEVER get around to doing the room the right way. So Mike gave me the go ahead to start work on the baby room, so long as I was prepared to do the majority of the work.

It has not been easy. But I think it will be worth it.

Part I started yesterday with the ceiling. When we moved in, the ceiling had some water damage. We did a quick patch job and painted so it wouldn't look too crazy. But in order to turn it into a proper room, the tiles needed to come down and a new dry wall ceiling needed to go up.

To prep the room, I had to pull down all the ceiling tiles, which ended up being TWO layers! Surprise! I've been kinda clumsy lately, but managed to get the job done with only one bloody toe, one head bang, and a couple finger scraps. One section was hard to pull out, so Mike gave me the x-acto knife. That scared me a little because I was worried I would somehow end up stabbing myself, but no worries - the tiles are down without any runs to the emergency room.

It's unbelievable how messy it was to pull down the tiles. And even though I tried to cover up
the floor, I appreciate that Mike went back later after I had fallen asleep to do a slightly better job of covering up.

Today, Fil and his crew came over to finish the job!

Poor astros was tied up most the day so he wouldn't make the great escape out the front door...

That means painting can begin this weekend!!! exciting!
